Employee Disputes

An effective acceptable use policy (AUP) clearly spells out what is acceptable use of a company's network and equipment and what is not.

Most organizations prohibit social media use, pornography, personal shopping, transmitting confidential company information, and any action that violates local, state, or federal law. But it's not enough to have an AUP; senior management must support it, and it must be continually and fairly enforced.

When pursuing discipline for violation of an AUP, we recommend having a digital forensics expert gather and analyze all available evidence, including email, deleted files, and call records.
